Applications Now Being Accepted

Eligibility: Women who have a permanent home address in Campbell, Milpitas, San Jose and Santa Clara, California, who have completed two full years of an accredited college or university, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and who are enrolled in a four-year institution as an undergraduate. Grants are based on significance of educational goals, scholastic achievements, merits of the application, and an interview with the Local Scholarship Committee. In 2012 nine scholarships totaling $10,000 were awarded. The number and size of scholarships awarded depend upon the funds available.

By submitting an application, the applicant consents to the use and review of the information contained therein by the AAUW San Jose Local Scholarship Committee for the purpose of awarding the scholarships. The applicants will not be automatically enrolled, or otherwise enrolled, to receive extraneous emails and/or solicitations from AAUW or any other entity.

Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2013 and sent to Grace O'Leary at 1128 Sterling Gate Drive, San Jose, CA 95120-4246 or you may email it to oleary1128@comcast.net.

Applicants must provide an official transcript from their current college or university, as well as a written recommendation from a college instructor or college counselor. Please have the recommendation mailed directly to Grace O'Leary, 1128 Sterling Gate Drive, San Jose, CA 95120-4246.

Applicants must prepare a brief statement of not more than three paragraphs, in which they state their goals, express their attitude towards these goals, and clarify their determination to achieve them.

The awards will be made by May 20, 2013. We anticipate completing interviews by May 13, 2013. Applicants should provide dates of availability should the committee decide to schedule an interview.
